Presenting a sumptuous programme of choral masterpieces from the twentieth century, we welcome the Choir of Clare College Cambridge and their director Graham Ross. Bridging the traditional and modern, the choir perform a programme of both secular and sacred works by composers such as Poulenc, Arvo Pärt and Britten. Since the founding of a mixed voice choir in 1971, the choir has gained an international reputation as one of the leading university choral groups in the UK.
‘If you ever needed confirmation of the fantastically high standard of choral singing that exists in the UK, look, or rather, hear no further than the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge’ (Classical Source).
In addition to its primary function of leading services three times a week in the College chapel, the choir keeps an active schedule of recording, broadcasting, and performing throughout the UK and worldwide. The choir has been fortunate to have had four very fine directors: Peter Dennison; John Rutter; Timothy Brown; and since 2010, Graham Ross - a composer and conductor of a wide range of repertoire and one of today's youngest published composers. We are delighted to invite the Choir of Clare College to perform at the London A Cappella Festival 2013.
