The Swingle Singers' 50th Anniversary
Festival hosts the Swingle Singers are an international a cappella phenomenon. For five decades the unmistakable sound of “Swingle singing”, virtuosic vocal agility and trademark blend combined with high-level entertainment, has thrilled audiences around the globe. Launching their 50th anniversary year celebrations at the festival, the current line-up of young and talented voices represents the group's transformation from pioneering classical/jazz crossover artists to contemporary vocal super-group.
Since the release of their ground-breaking album Jazz Sébastien Bach in 1963, this a cappella group has performed in every continent and on the world’s most famous stages, as well as releasing over 50 recordings and winning five Grammy Awards. The Swingles have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible to achieve with the human voice for the past 50 years – and the current line up is no different. Made up of young and vibrant singers trained in jazz, pop, choral and beatbox, the Swingles reinvent classic music, from Debussy to Mumford and Sons, Bach to Elbow, and for the first time in many years, will be performing original material.
The Swingle Singers will be supported by The Exchange. The newest American vocal boy band to hit the music scene, The Exchange is a supergroup of singers from NBC's The Sing Off. Front-men Aaron Sperber and Jamal Moore join with beatboxer Richard Steighner, producer Christopher Diaz and touring artist Alfredo Austin to create a diverse vocal group in which there is truly something for everybody.
